Kelsey Kay is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor that earned her Master's Degree from Rosalind Franklin University of Medical Sciences in Clinical Counseling. Kelsey has over five years’ experience focusing on treating individuals and families suffering from substance abuse and comorbid disorders. She specializes in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) for children, adolescents and adults. Kelsey’s main age focus group ranges from six to twelve years of age. She focuses on Cognitive Behavioral Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), anger issues, self-esteem, anxiety, and depression. In practice Kelsey uses a range of methods from Person Centered Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy to empower clients, Play Therapy, Art Therapy, Game Therapy, and going to the park, so the kids can feel more comfortable.
Kelsey was born and raised in Frankfort, Illinois, and feels a great sense of gratitude that she can help kids in and around this area. She feels a sense of connection to them because she was raised in Frankfort and can relate to them with her first hand knowledge of the school district and background to build a stronger relationship.
Kelsey loves to travel and has been to Paris, Switzerland, Amsterdam and Italy, and says it has given her a world perspective. “Traveling has helped my perception as a therapist, that I’m not just focused on one culture, but multiculturalism. Being able to travel and have these experiences taught me the world is so big and influential and the effects it has on our kids and society. I’ll forever be a child at heart.” Kelsey makes it her mission to go to Disneyland at least every two years. She is also a big animal lover and whenever she gets a chance she volunteers at an animal shelter.
