ABA TherapyThe Healing Center for Behavioral Health specializes in the treatment of Autism andrelated developmental disorders, providing compassionate commitment and care to each andevery individual and family we serve. We adhere to this mission by operating within thetheoretical practices and evidence-based principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). Empirically based behavioral techniques are used to promote learning and replace maladaptive behaviors with more appropriate one. The Healing Center offers a myriad of services for allages on the Autism Spectrum and other developmental disabilities. We do not believe in a “one size fits all” model. We recognize that every client can be individually addressed through a variety of different treatment approaches to create a unique and tailored program. We pride ourselves on our ability to design programs that address areas of socialization, behavior challenges, communication, language, play, daily living and academic skills, that focus specifically on the client’s abilities and the parent’s specific goals. At the Healing Center we also offer a range of client ratios for treatment, either 1:1, 2:1, or 3:1, to ensure the most optimal environment to build skills and independence. Offering ABA Therapy in Natural SettingsThe Healing Center offers ABA programs for in the home, in our clinic, at school or day carefacilities, and in and around the community as needed to foster appropriate functional skills. Our goal is to work with the child in the most naturalistic environment, to build strong functional skills that will transfer between all aspects of their life. Thus, if we are teaching play skills, rather than teaching a child to play appropriately with an adult interventionist within the home environment, we would rather teach play skills at a park or during a play date with a familiar peer, in a setting where parents and children are likely to generalize and maintain the skills outside of therapy sessions. Working in a naturalistic environment also creates a child-centered, play-based modality of treatment that allows for learning and laughter to coexist. Our staff is highly trained in the ability to identify and create natural opportunities, and transform everyday social outings into enriched therapeutic experiences. The versatility of our programs allows parents to feel that their child’s therapy is a comfortable and contoured experience. ABA Therapy Services are covered by Insurance. In Home
At The Healing Center we offer ABA Therapy services in a variety of different environments. In our In-Home ABA Therapy program, we provide one-on-one Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy where one of our highly trained ABA Interventionists comes to the home to provide tailored services to the child. Our In-Home ABA Program allows for child to learn functional skills at home that are important for every-day functioning, as well as build upon social and communication skills, all while in a comfortable setting. Session in the home also provide for great parent participation and parent training, allowing the parent to learn hands-on techniques for helping their child succeed. The Healing Center’s In-Home ABA Therapy services provide for intimate and tailored treatment programs that are highly monitored. Our Interventionists use empirically based treatment methods in a one-on-one environment to build skill sets and master target goals. Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), and Picture-Exchange Communication System are just a few tools our interventionists use to successfully modify behaviors and begin acquisition of skills. Data collected during the program is recorded daily and analyzed to assess the most current progress markers, so both parents and our Interventionists can fine-tune treatment goals as accomplishments are met. Treatment methods at The Healing Center focus on a set mastery criterion to ensure that target skills are retained long-term.
In School
School should be a positive and enriching environment, which is what The Healing Center aims to maintain! At The Healing Center we offer ABA Therapy in school settings, to help aid in social, academic, and/or behavioral challenges in the classroom. Our interventionists work to integrate the child with their peers, increase group participation and interaction, provide behavioral and educational support, and engage in positive social experiences throughout the day. Our focus is on helping build confidence in the child’s abilities, while supporting them with ABA intervention strategies. Our interventionists also help bridge the gap with other kids and promote positive social interactions. With The Healing Center, school transforms into a place where both learning and social fun co-exist to create an enriched environment for the child and help build independence! For those seeking School setting ABA Therapy, The Healing Center is able to provide the student’s special education and related services that are determined through the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process.
Social Setting
The Healing Centers Social Clubs in Orland Park and New Lenox offer a variety of community based recreational and adventure opportunities for kids and teens to build friendships, have fun, and generalize the skills they have learned in different environments. Our Social Skills Groups offer a non-threatening, small group environment where fun and excitement dictate everything kids do! Under the steady guidance of our experienced yet youthful Interventionists, participants hone their social skills and have the opportunity to forge friendships with other participants in our program. Social Skills Group TherapyAt the Healing Center, our Orland Park and New Lenox Social Clubs take a child’s skills to the next level. Transferring skills to a community setting provides natural learning opportunities that a clinic could not provide. Our goal is to expand on the child’s target social skills by increasing exposure in new and exciting social environments around the community. The Healing Center offers a social skills/generalization program that occur every weekend. The social skills/generalization groups are divided into age levels of 0-2 years of age, 3-6 years of age, 7-12 years of age, and 13-16 years of age and we have separate adult programs as well. All our social clubs in Orland Park and New Lenox are innovatively structured to make sure each child is placed in an environment, with the proper support, to make sure he or she has a positive experience and gains important skills and confidence to become more socially independent. Peer to Peer OutingsThe Healing Center also offers Peer-to-Peer outings in the community. Our Peer to Peer program allows a child or teen to work one-on-one with someone they can relate to – whether that be another child receiving ABA Therapy, a friend from school, or a sibling – under the guidance of our experienced Interventionists while out in the community. The Peer-to-Peer program operates similarly to a positive role model, but also works to encourage appropriate social skills, and any other challenges the participant may have. Through these structured but natural social skills therapy sessions, children get to practice their friendship skills, but receive support when needed. A unique and flexible combination of structure, target goals, and natural peer interaction help create an environment that allows social skills to flourish! Our Community Setting ABA Therapy can take place in a variety of unique environments, including local parks, playgrounds, or sports fields. Measuring SuccessThe success of the Healing Center’s Community Setting ABA Therapy relies heavily on accurate data collection, structured goals, and continuous monitoring of progress. Our interventionists are trained to accurately track and monitor behaviors to ensure the child’s treatment is always following the designated treatment goals. Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Pivotal Response Training (PRT), and Picture-Exchange Communication System are just a few tools our interventionists use to successfully modify behaviors in social settings. Data from each of these peer-to-peer outings in the community is then analyzed, focusing on percent accuracy completed per program, increasing and decreasing percentage trends of programs, and prompt levels required to achieve mastery criterion per program.
