Hello! My name is Buoy (sounds like Boo-eee). I am a goldendoodle, F1BB Chocolate Merle Parti. I am a certified therapy dog and have completed many individual trainings and group training programs throughout my life. I have passed the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Program and Exam through the American Kennel Club. I have also taken the Therapy Dogs International Exam and passed. I must get re-certified every year to stay an active Therapy Dog and continue to work. I continue to work with my trainer to learn new skills and ensure that my obedience is on task.
I was born in Canada on February 8th, 2019. I come from a family of service dogs, therapy dogs and emotional support dogs. I love my parents and all my brothers and sisters. I have excelled in working with children and adolescents. I have also been complimented by human parents of my client’s when they are stressed out because I am able to soothe them with a special skill I have. I bet you want to know what it is! Okay, I’ll tell you. I sit on their feet.
I have found a niche working with children. I enjoy helping little humans that have ADHD, anxiety, depression, separation anxiety, autism, PANDAS, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. I have been trained to work with many of the counselors at the Healing Center. In the past, I have helped some children work through their fears of dogs too. I have some commands that are given to me that have taught me how to help little humans when they are stressed out and are needing to feel more comfortable. Humans that are in High School also enjoy working with me. I have heard them say that its easier for them to open up and share their thoughts and feelings when I am around. That makes me feel so good about my job! I couldn’t have found a more awesome place to work at!
I spend most of my work days at our Orland Park pediatric clinic but I also like to make special appearances at the New Lenox clinic as well. Please know that I do make special appearances at schools and also have done several reading presentations for children. If you are looking to have a therapy dog come visit your school for a special presentation, I am your dog!
In my spare time, I enjoy being with my human parents and human brother and sister. I also enjoy boating, swimming, going for walks, hanging out with other dogs and playing fetch.
